The project was simply stated to design a flight of stairs. I wanted to capture a sense of floating and this was achieved in two main ways. Firstly the stairs are completely suspended from the ceiling. No parts actually contact the bottom floor. Secondly, the use of glass creates a transparency from all viewing positions, with highly contrasting metal support providing an anchor for the eye and the physical structure.
